De Soto Unified School District #232 is accepting Request for Bids for:
District Service Center, Re-Roof
GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE CONTRACT
1. Bids will be received at 11:00am Central Time, Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the District Service Center 8355 Peoria, De Soto, KS 66018.
2. A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 10:00 AM at the project site (8355 Peoria, De Soto, KS 66018) For additional information, contact Brian Schwanz, Director of Facilities at 913.667.6220.
3. Sealed bids must be submitted on the form provided to the district in an envelope marked as follows:

4. The bid price shall be exclusive of any taxes – federal, state or local. The school district shall apply for the proper Sales Tax Exemption Certificate from the state and furnish to the contractor. The contractor will furnish the number of said exemption certificate to all suppliers from which purchases are to be made and shall require such suppliers to execute invoices concerning the purchases bearing the number of such certificates. A copy of the Project Completion Certificate (Form STD77) must be forwarded to the Kansas Department of Revenue, Docking State Office Building, in Topeka, Kansas 66625. All invoices must be retained by the contractor for a period of five (5) years and are subject to audit by the Kansas Department of Revenue.
5. The De Soto Board of Education will consider awarding a contract for this project to the lowest responsible bidder at the August 4, 2025 Board of Education Meeting. The project schedules shall be:
Entire project to begin October 6, 2025 and completed by November 17, 2025.
6. The contractor will furnish a Certificate of Insurance for both general liability in the amount of $1,000,000.00 Bodily Injury and Death with a $2,000,000 aggregate and $1,000,000.00 Property Damage with a $1,000,000.00 aggregate, and in addition the state required workman-compensationbefore starting the project.
7. The contractor shall furnish the following bonds: Bid Bond with bid in the amount of 5% of the total bid. A Performance Bond, and file a Kansas Statutory Payment Bond in the amount of 100% of the contract sum with the district court in Johnson County Kansas will be due when contract is awarded to contractor. A one-year maintenance bond for total sum of project.
8. Contractors to comply with all local, state and federal laws, ordinances and regulations, in all bids. For example, see K.S.A. 44-1030.
9. The contractor will be responsible for obtaining all permits and licenses as required.
10. The contractor shall at all times keep the premises free from accumulation of waste materials or rubbish used by their operation. Upon completion of the work, the contractor shall remove all of the waste materials and rubbish from and about the project site as well as any equipment, tools, surplus materials, etc. The contractor shall furnish, install, and maintain adequate barricades, signs of warning, and all other protective devices and equipment required, to protect or secure the area, students, and all other person. The contractor will be responsible for making the opening secure at the end of each day.
11. The contractor shall be responsible to the school district for the acts and omissions of his employees, subcontractors and their employees, and other persons performing any of the work under this contract.
12. The De Soto Board of Education reserves the right to reject any and all bids submitted, and waves any formalities deemed to be in the best interest of the school district. Contractors having not done previous work for the District will be required to submit a Contractor’s Qualification Statement.
